ECCE – Projects by the international studies group
In our class we're working with different international projects. We have four projects going on right now. Feminism around the worldOne of the groups is about to print and sell an anthology about feminism. They have started a Young Enterprise to sell their book. They have asked several young people about their opinions mostly about feminism. They want to know how the feministic organisation works in Sweden and how it's handled in the world. They are also interested in how the future looks like. Friends of Latvia An other project group is working together with the organisation “Friends of Latvia”. They are mostly collecting chairs, tables and sewing machines to renovate the old sewing room in a school in a town called Iecava. They’re planning to go there to discuss how to complete the sewing room during this school year . The Bosnia project The third group is working to start a youth recreation centre in a war damaged city called Gorazde in Bosnia. There will the young people be able to do homework together since some families can’t afford books for their children. It will also be a place for them to meet and have fun. They hope to increase their vision of the future. To raise money they will have a fashionshow in the end of November. All the profit will go to the youth recreation centre. Adopt a minefield In my group we are working together with the Swedish organisation “Adopt a minefield”, which is working together with the Swedish UN organisation. Our goal is mostly to make people notice how big problem mines are in the world and thereby raise money to adopt a minefield. We will have a concert in December and all the money will go to the project “Adopt a minefield”. We will also have a hole day in the market place in Örnsköldsvik, where we’ll get peoples attention and hopefully get people involved. The celebration of the 60 year anniversary for the UN The hole class have together arranged an open air meeting in the market place to celebrate the 60 year anniversary for The United Nations. The speakers we invited was the former chairman for the UN organisation in Örnsköldsvik, a refugee from Kongo, a representative from the community and one of our classmates. We had also asked a local band to play some music.
