ECCE - European Citizens Challenging Education

       Teaching Citizenship

ECCE is an International School Developing Project funded by the European Union – Socrates/Comenius 2003 – 2006. The partner schools is Bishop Heber High School in Malpas, England, I.T.C.G “Mose Bianchi” in Monza, Italy, Malbank School and Sixth Form Collage in Nantwich, England, “Romain Rolland” in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria and Parkskolan in Örnsköldsvik, Sweden.

The aim is to develop Schemes of Work relating to the teaching of active citizenship in the curricular of the participating European Schools. These schemes will include European and global dimensions designed to equip students for their role as European citizens in the 21st century. School management, teachers, students and community participation is an integral part of the project. Sharing good practice between institutions will lead to improve pedagogical programmes which will be accessible through this website.

Each project is linked to three strands:

  • School Talks – to manage issues of citizenship within the local and global community
  • Youth Voice – to develop democratic structures for our young people
  • Youth Talks – to exchange information and views between students regarding local and global citizenship issues
